The town of Bijar (or Bidjar), located approximately 80 km northeast of Sanandaj, has been a significant hub for rug making since at least the 18th century. Known as "Iron Carpets," these rugs are celebrated for their exceptionally dense pile and outstanding durability, ranking among the sturdiest Persian carpets. Common designs include medallion and floral motifs.
