Approximately 289 cm x 197 cm, this rug shows a rich red field with geometric medallions and repeating motifs framed by patterned borders, accented with dark blue and black. Its near 3 m by 2 m size makes it well suited for a living room or under a medium to large dining table.

Kunduz rugs share similar colours and patterns to Khal Mohammadi rugs, but are of finer quality with tidy knotting and smooth, almost velvety pile. You will frequently see Kunduz rugs with a small section of flat-woven 'kilim' at either end, next to the fringes. They are hand-knotted in the Kunduz region of northern Afghanistan.
