Mashwani kilims are unique in that they use a combination of both flat woven and knotted areas. This effectively makes them a hybrid between a kilim and a knotted carpet, and results in a high-low pile that gives an embossed appearance, emphasizing the diamond patterning that these rugs often feature. Our Mashwani kilims are skillfully handcrafted by the Mashwani people of Afghanistan.
